Mobile App Improves Vaccine Temperature Monitoring and Data Logging, Reducing Potential Errors and Costs

The Client

Onset is a global leader in data logging and monitoring solutions used to measure, record, and manage data for improving the environment and preserving the quality of temperature-sensitive products such as vaccines.

The Obstacles Faced

Medical vaccines need careful transportation at cold temperatures. Vaccines exposed to temperature excursions will be rendered ineffective, costing both shipper and client. Historically, data monitoring of vaccine temperatures required human intervention at certain intervals, leaving room for error and product loss.

The Journey

To better manage vaccine temperatures, we worked together to create an IoT data logging mobile app called InTemp. The InTempConnect app pairs an easy-to-use mobile interface with temperature logging hardware that automatically records and sends data back to a phone or tablet, enabling more accurate monitoring and reporting at various touch points in transit and 24/7 monitoring at rest in a refrigerator. To meet CDC requirements for monitoring, reporting and storing data for three years, 50 precise readouts per hour are collected and automatically pushed to the InTempConnect cloud platform.
