Luxury Retailer Modernizes Mainframe to Prepare for Cloud Transformation
The Client
A leading luxury fashion destination that’s redefining the high-end shopping experience through seamless integration between ecommerce and physical stores. Following its 2021 spin-out as a standalone digital business, the retailer has been investing in technology to support its growth strategy and elevate the modern customer experience.
The Challenges
The client had been operating on a legacy z13 mainframe with outdated software, including unsupported versions of z/OS and key ISV products. While the goal was clear—modernize and eventually move to public cloud—the path was uncertain. With aging infrastructure and rising operational risk, it needed a partner to stabilize its mainframe environment, reduce technical debt, and build a smart roadmap for modernization.
The Solution
Ensono delivered a hosted, dedicated Mainframe-as-a-Service solution and launched a Mainframe Modernization Assessment to guide the client’s long-term strategy. The engagement included a staged upgrade from z13 to z15 infrastructure, and updated versions of z/OS, DB2, CICS, MQ, and more. Ensono’s approach gives this client the stability they need today, with a transformation-ready environment for tomorrow.
The Outcomes Achieved
- Improved operational stability by upgrading aging infrastructure and unsupported software.
- Risk mitigation with proactive migration off of soon-to-be-obsolete systems.
- Clear modernization roadmap through Ensono’s Mainframe Modernization Assessment.
- Scalable, cloud-aligned architecture to support future public cloud transition.
