The Client
The client is a government-run organization that maintains the register for all limited companies in the country. It is responsible for incorporating and dissolving companies, collecting and storing relevant information, and making it available to the public.
The Obstacles Faced
The organization provides an open and transparent company register, and its business success and economic growth depend on investors, employees, and the wider public having confidence in it. Recent years had seen several companies used for fraudulent purposes, and it had become increasingly challenging to safeguard personal data, threatening the register’s accuracy.
Verifying individuals on the register and consolidating duplicate identities for those registering multiple companies had become difficult for the client. Furthermore, sending verification codes through the post to enable people to file information online was time-consuming, expensive, and presented a substantial risk of code-sharing, making it impossible to identify who had access to these codes.
With over 4 million companies on the register, the client wanted to improve its Identity and Access Management (IdAM) capabilities to securely store the identities of approximately 10 million people, which would act as a fundamental building block for its organization-wide transformation program. Finding an efficient way to verify business owners and prevent company ownership from becoming compromised was necessary to reduce the occurrences of filing false information, maintain legal compliance, and enhance the accuracy and reliability of the collected information.
The Journey
The client needed the experience and expertise of identity specialists who would remain impartial so it could make the right investment.
Ensono conducted a vendor analysis of IdAM providers to help the client select a modern, scalable, and secure solution that would improve lengthy and repetitive authentication, validation, and authorization processes while reducing the strain on internal staff.
Ensono worked with the client’s technical and business teams to understand the organization’s key priorities:
- Implement a modern, standards-based, scalable, and fit-for-purpose IdAM solution.
- Improve storage and management of user accounts and data.

The client selected ForgeRock Identity Cloud (now PingOne Advanced Identity Cloud) to securely manage and govern identities, becoming the first organization in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa to benefit from this cutting edge, innovative solution. Key features — such as Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), credential management, account provisioning, progressive profiling, REST APIs, advanced data security and privacy, analytics, and insight capabilities — made this the optimal solution.
With minimal in-house experience with PingOne Advanced Identity Cloud, the client enlisted Ensono to implement it. To assure the client’s internal IT team had the appropriate skill set to effectively manage the solution after implementation, Ensono provided knowledge-sharing through online workshops to enhance their understanding and technical skills.
The Outcomes Achieved
Ensono helped the client modernize its filing process with PingOne Advanced Identity Cloud, making it more reliable and efficient, and granting a singular view to effectively manage data across its systems. The client can now offer a safe, secure, and frictionless customer and employee experience. Features and benefits of this solution include:
- Eliminating the need to mail paper letters with authorization codes saves time and lowers printing and postage costs, resulting in an annual cost-saving of up to the equivalent of over $500,000.
- Company administrators and officers are required to prove their identity, improving information accuracy and preventing fictitious business owners from being appointed.
- MFA makes the sign-on process more secure and gives accountholders peace of mind knowing their data is stored behind an extra layer of security.
- Having single sign-on has reduced the workload and rekeying of information for client staff and administrators of limited companies.
- Authorized users can invite others to file for their company via email, preventing the sharing of authorization codes and enhancing the accurate association of individuals with their respective companies.
- Self-service capabilities allow individuals to seamlessly manage their personal identity data in one place.
- Enhanced consent management and progressive profiling capabilities mean staff can obtain additional consented user information, giving individuals more control over their data while reducing the need to complete lengthy forms.
- Less paperwork and administration mean client staff can focus on delivering an excellent customer experience and providing secure and compliant services.
- The solution serves as the foundation for a customer relationship management system and allows flexibility in working with future partners.
The client’s new IdAM solution improved the register’s reliability by verifying identities and securely managing company accounts. With tens of millions of sign-ins and up to a million new accounts created each year, the client has increased confidence in its company register.
The robust solution has the capability and scalability to be quickly rolled out across all online services with high availability (99.9%), giving the client a foundation to modernize its services further and securely expand its digital infrastructure.
