About the role and what you’ll be doing:
The System Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and support of enterprise IT infrastructure with a focus on operating systems support, security operations, middleware platforms, vendor coordination, and compliance. This role ensures the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of information systems that support core organizational functions

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain enterprise operating systems (Windows, Linux, AIX).
- Provide middleware support for platforms such as WebSphere, JBoss, Apache, and Oracle WebLogic
- Apply patches, manage configurations, and ensure system uptime and performance
- Conduct periodic access reviews and audits
- Support forensic investigations and respond to IAM-related incidents.
- Monitoring & BAU Operations:
- Use tools like Splunk SOAR, Tenable, and MS Defender for real-time monitoring and threat detection
- Perform routine system health checks, password rotations/complexity, and lifecycle management tasks.
- Maintain runbooks and technical documentation for repeatable operations
- Coordinate with third-party vendors for software, hardware, and service delivery.
- Ensure adherence to ITSM/ITIL processes including incident, change, and problem management
- Support internal and external audits with timely documentation and remediation.
- Support AntiVirus tools and File Integrity monitoring
- Experience with API gateways and MF connectivity tools such as KONG and MVH.
- Experience with Middleware support such as WebSphere and JBoss.
- Public Cloud administration experience.
- Support for compliance, audits (e.g. TDL), password changes, Control-M and e3
- Experience in security, patching and LCM for OS and Middleware
- Experience with tools such as Flexera, Carbon Black, ClamAV, McAfee ENS/Trellix, Netwirix, Puppet, Syslog, Tanium and Tripwire.
- Bachelor’s Degree or demonstrated equivalent relevant work experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience, certifications and/or demonstratable relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated experience with this specific company and customers.
- Strong written and oral communications skills; Strong interpersonal and customer relations skills with the ability to effectively interact with peers, customers, and vendors.
- Be fully functional and self-directed as well as integrate into a team.
- Ability to provide formal mentorship and cross-train others with less technical knowledge and institutional knowledge.
- Ability to technically document processes and procedures and run books.
- Ability to handle and manage low to high complexity of assignments.
- Ability to follow ITSM and ITIL process such as incident, request, problem and change management procedures.
- Proven diligence and adherence to audits and security protocols, procedures and reporting.
- Knowledge of USG security and audit process, policy, procedures, laws and requirements.
- Display aggressive life cycle management
- Demonstratable critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to document process and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to develop automation and efficiencies.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this role is $70,000 to $112,000 annually based on a full-time schedule. Please note that placement in the range may vary based on numerous factors including but not limited to skills, experience, internal equity, and business needs. In addition to base salary, other compensation programs, depending on eligibility, include an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance and an equity grant under our Associate Equity Appreciation Program.
