Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer – z/OS

Position Summary:

The Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer – z/OS provides support for on-going projects that require the installation, testing, and implementation of new operating systems and other 'system' software. Includes: Maintenance and debugging of systems software, Coordination with other technical teams (CICS, Database, Network, Hardware/Storage, etc.) in accomplishing assigned tasks, Research and evaluation of new software and hardware products, assisting team members and other areas with technical questions and problem resolution, Monitoring and tuning of systems software, Functional knowledge, use of z/OS components and detailed knowledge of supporting products.  Note: This is not an Applications Developer position.

Key Areas of Focus for this Role

  • Installation and maintenance of Mainframe Systems Infrastructure software (including z/OS and/or ISV products) in support of Software Lifecycle Management
  • Incident / Problem resolution

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required and/or equivalent work experience.

Other Qualifications

  • Strong understanding and experience of Mainframe systems functionalities and z/OS utilities
  • Strong understanding and experience using SMPE and Vendor specific installation utilities.
  • Ability to perform complex ISV installations.
  • Ability to perform and lead complex projects.
  • Ability to mentor others
  • Ability to work independently when appropriate and work collaboratively in an agile team environment.
