Position Summary
The Mainframe CICS Senior Systems Programmer provides support for on-going projects that require the installation, configuration, testing, and implementation of CICS TS and other related OEM software products. Also, provided support, maintenance, and debugging of systems software. Research and evaluation of new software versions, assisting team members and other areas with technical questions and problem resolution. Monitoring and tuning of systems software. Functional knowledge, use of z/OS components and detailed knowledge of support products such as scheduling, security, monitoring systems, etc.

Position reports to Manager, Mainframe System Programming

Key Areas of Focus for this Role

  • Implement CICS TS installations & upgrades and provide support for related OEM software products.
  • Regularly lead self and others and/or established as product SME and/or established as a specialist.
  • Understands how whole picture aligns to overall Ensono strategy.
  • Provides technical support for multiple configurations of CICS TS software solutions.
  • Processes communication skills to participate in Client meetings and new business deals.
  • Works directly with Software vendors on new solutions.
  • Enhance the performance of others through mentoring and guiding.
  • Design automated monitoring techniques for installations and problem identification & prevention.
  • Provide and document problem analysis, resolution & prevention, designing procedures and best practice techniques.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years hands on/industry CICS TS experience on z/OS
  • Bachelor’s degree required and/or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to perform complex ISV installations
  • Ability to perform and lead complex projects
  • Familiarity with one or more mainframe functional areas such as TCP/IP, VTAM, SNA, SFTP, automation, Database, CICS, Session Manager tools, and Disaster Recovery concepts. 
  • Technical implementation skills required for Communications Server and related ISV software products on the z/OS platform.
  • Understanding of IBM, EMC, DASD and Tape Replication Technology
  • Customer Service skills at management / client level
  • Extreme attention to detail
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Understand a large-scale 24×7 production environment

  • Good problem solving and analytical skills with knowledge of problem analysis
  • Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to mentor and show leadership qualities
  • Experience establishing and documenting processes and procedures
  • Willingness to take ownership of issues and progress to resolution
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, Powepoint) 
  • Basic Sharepoint Knowledge
  • Experience installing, configuring, & upgrading MQ and WAS on z/OS
