Position Summary

 

The Project Manager is responsible for the end-to-end tracking and reporting of innovation initiatives. While the Program Manager governs the portfolio, the Project Manager drives execution, keeping each initiative on time, in scope, and within budget, while maintaining a clear, honest picture of status for all stakeholders. This role suits someone who is detail-oriented and delivery-focused, but also capable of thinking through problems independently and communicating proactively when things shift. The role is on Contract (FTC) for first six months and extendable basis the performance of the individual.

 

Key Areas of Focus for this Role

 

  • Project Planning & Execution   –

    • Own project plans for assigned innovation initiatives – scope, milestones, resource allocation, budget tracking, and critical path

    • Run structured project kick-offs, stand-ups, and milestone reviews with clear agendas and documented outcomes

    • Maintain a live project tracker always updated

    • Manage change requests formally – document, assess impact, seek approval, update baseline

 

  • Risk & Issue Management    –

    • Maintain RAID logs for each project – risks are flagged on time

    • Identify dependencies between initiatives and others in the portfolio; escalate to Program Manager when cross-portfolio resolution is needed

    • Propose mitigations, not just issues – arrive at escalation conversations with options, not just problems

    • Manage interdependencies across initiatives – identifying conflicts and sequencing work to maximize delivery throughput

 

  • Reporting & Documentation –

o   Produce status reports per initiative – RAG rated, with clear narrative on what changed and why

o   Feed project-level data into the Program Manager’s portfolio report accurately and on time

o   Maintain project documentation: charters, RACI, meeting notes, decisions log, lessons learned

o   Create clear, concise stakeholder updates

 

  • Stakeholder Management & Team Coordination

o   Coordinate across project team members, SMEs, and business leads — managing schedules, actions, and accountability

o   Liaise with vendors, partners, and internal functions (IT, Finance, CPE, Legal, etc.) as required by project scope

o   Communicate proactively

 

Preferred Background

 

•       Has managed innovation, transformation, or AI-adjacent projects (not just BAU delivery)

•       Experience working within or alongside a PMO / Portfolio Office structure

•       Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where scope evolves and ambiguity is normal

•       Some exposure to governance-heavy delivery contexts is a plus

 

Other Qualifications/ Experience Required

 

•       Bachelor’s degree in engineering / business administration, or related field

  • Proven 8 plus years of experience in innovation programs / portfolio management, ideally in IT services, consulting, or technology firms

  • Proven track record delivering projects end-to-end – not just coordination or tracking support

  • Strong planning skills – comfortable building advanced charts, managing dependencies, and tracking critical path

  • Demonstrated experience project managing a portfolio of concurrent initiatives with cross-functional teams

  • Advanced stakeholder management, comfortable presenting to senior leadership

  • Excellent written and verbal communication can translate complexity into clear narratives

  • Proficient in portfolio tools (Jira, Smartsheet, MS Project, or equivalent)

  • PgMP, PMP, or Prince2 Practitioner preferred

  • Exposure to AI, digital transformation programs is a must

  • Should have advanced Office 365 tool skills
