About the Role:   

The Director, Mainframe Optimization is a newly established global leadership role focused on driving efficiency, performance, and modernization across the enterprise’s mainframe ecosystem. This role plays a critical part in shaping the future of mainframe operations by delivering measurable outcomes, enhancing service delivery, and supporting the organization’s transformation agenda. 

Primary Responsibilities:   

• Lead enterprise-wide Mainframe Optimization program working with leaders and stakeholders for Production Control and Batch, Databases, MQ, Storage, HW, SW, Capacity, Application, etc. to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and streamline operations. 

• Use data-driven insights and performance metrics to improve mainframe consumption and billing and inform strategic decisions. 

• Partner and collaborate across Mainframe Services, Product Management, Finance, AI teams etc., to enhance mainframe efficiency  

• Collaborate on initiatives like standardization, working with the stakeholders. 

• Develop and maintain cost optimization plan. Communicate technical strategies and outcomes to senior leadership and stakeholders, translating complex data into actionable insights. 

• Partner with internal teams to align optimization and service enhancement opportunities with new hardware and software rollouts, ensuring seamless integration and performance gains. 

• Partner with the sales and solution team during the renewal and new logos deals to provide optimization opportunities 

• Build and lead a high-performing team focused on continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence in mainframe optimization.

Required Qualifications  

• 15+ years of experience in IT or mainframe services, with deep expertise in performance optimization and modernization. 

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education. 

• Strong analytical skills with experience using data to improve MIPS consumption and drive operational decisions. 

• Demonstrated ability to lead tool standardization efforts and collaborate across internal teams. 

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical insights to senior leadership.
