z/OS Systems Software Engineer, (Core Services/MFaaS)  

 

 

 

Your role

We’re looking for a z/OS Systems Software Engineer to:

 

• Design, develop, and improve the digital products and technology services we provide to our clients and employees
• Apply a broad range of software engineering practices, from analyzing user needs and developing new features to automated testing and deployment
• Ensure the quality, security, reliability, and compliance of our solutions by applying our digital principles and implementing both functional and non-functional requirements
• Build observability into our solutions, monitor production health, help to resolve incidents, and remediate the root cause of risks and issues
• Understand, represent, and advocate for clients’ needs
• Share knowledge and expertise with colleagues , help with hiring, and contribute regularly to our engineering culture and internal communities
• Responsible for planning, installing and maintenance of the z/OS infrastructure and related software components

 

• Responsible for problem management and determination of assigned software

 

• Must be capable of writing network design and implementation concept documents

 

• Responsible for the third level support for the z/OS software infrastructure in the mainframe area

 

Your team

 

In our agile operating model, crews are aligned to larger products and services fulfilling client needs and encompass multiple autonomous pods. You’ll be working in the Mainframe-as-a-Service (MFaaS) team in Pune focusing on interaction with the Operational and related Support teams in Basel/Zurich/Wroclaw/New Jersey and various other groups.

There are basically three different engineering teams you will interact with:  Base Engineering (z/OS, USS, ISV and Network), Db2 engineering and Online Engineering (CICS,MQ)

 

 

Your expertise

 

• Expert skills in z/OS operating systems architecture, design & implementation. Optimal would be 3-5 years of experience in the area of z/OS mainframe software area. Hands on person with an overwhelming aim to serve and support the customer, when problems appear
• Understanding and hands-on experience with SMP/E and working with z/OS operating system is a must
• Experience in software development/deployment on z/OS operating system up to z/OS Rel. 2.4
• Expert skills in TSO/ISPF, REXX, z/OS and its subsystems are essential (base: z/OS Systems Engineering)
• Comprehensive knowledge of all related IBM utilities and tools
• Strong analytical skills
• Good understanding of Change Management principles and related experience
• Skills in the area of assembler programming is welcome, but not a must.
• Team Player, Initiative and customer oriented thinking, must perform independently
• Interested in learning new technologies and practices, reuse strategic platforms and standards, evaluate options, and make decisions with long-term sustainability in mind
• Strong communicator, from making presentations to technical writing
• Good written and spoken English is a must. German speaking skills would be welcome and helpful
• Basic understanding of project management
