Solution Architect, Public Cloud

Reporting to the Solution Architect Manager, the Solution Architect is a well-rounded and experienced individual with a passion for technology and transformation, operating as the keystone between the Sales and Engineering functions of the business.

Key Responsibilities & Outputs

  • Support the Sales function in a Pre-Sales architectural capacity to help drive sales revenue for new logo and existing Ensono account base, typically of market-listed size and stature
  • Further qualification of opportunities to ensure requirements and outcomes align with Ensono products and/or delivery capabilities
  • Requirements capture, technical and business, to clearly understand the customer’s problem statement, technical challenges, IT strategy and transformation roadmap
  • Collaboration with strategic cloud, security, and application management partners/vendors to assist in requirements capture, solution design and pricing
  • Technical design, and ownership, of solutions working with Products, Consulting and Managed Services teams for peer review and delivery assurance
  • Working in a team for large and complex opportunities, such as bids, with other Solution Architects, Bid Managers and Consultants
  • Assisting and guiding Solutions Designers and Technical Design Managers on smaller opportunity solutions
  • Pricing of both non-recurring; Consulting, and recurring; Managed Services, Cloud resources and licensing components of solutions using vendor pricing calculators, Ensono pricing tools and bespoke pricing worksheets
  • Further liaison with Product teams for non-standard and customer specific solutions
  • Documenting solutions to communicate how requirements are met, the features and benefits of solution components, consulting approach and deliverables, and on-going management services. Formats include SoW, RFP/ITT responses, proposals, high-level design diagrams and slide decks
  • Presentation of solutions to a variety of customer roles such as CIO, Infrastructure Manager, Security Officer, Application Development Lead etc.
  • Involvement in sales closure process for contracts, schedules, SLAs
  • Handover of solutions to delivery teams and involvement, when required, in post-sales activities
  • Attendance, when requested, in quarterly business reviews and other technical strategy customer sessions
  • Involvement in non-opportunity sales activities such as industry events, marketing campaigns, case studies and social media/blogs
  • Regular review of market trends, emerging technology, cloud services and applications to ensure knowledge remains current and relevant to Ensono’s customers
  • Sharing knowledge within the SA team for new products, services, and solutions
  • Optimizing and updating processes and procedures used by the SA team on an on-going basis, pricing tools, document templates, collaboration workspaces
  • Setting, in collaboration with an SA Manager, and working towards personal and company focused objectives  

Required (or Desired) Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Deep understanding of AWS architecture; networking, security, datacenter migration to IaaS
  • AWS Professional certification (required)
  • Understanding of core Microsoft Cloud services; Azure and 365
  • Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification (desired)
  • Architectural knowledge of GCP
  • GCP Foundational, Associate or Professional certification (desired)
  • Extensive experience of traditional datacenter, infrastructure, and networking technologies; Server OS, Hypervisor, Compute, Storage, Switching/Routing
  • Architectural knowledge of security products and services; NGF, UTM, WAF, Endpoint Protection as well as security frameworks and standards; ISO, CyberEssentials, PCI
  • Architectural knowledge of Microsoft, and 3rd party, End User Compute technologies and services; Desktop OS, VDI, Endpoint management, no-code/low-code apps and workflows
  • Architectural knowledge of application roles, development, and deployment; Infrastructure as Code & DevOps, CI/CD
  • Familiarity with operational standards and processes; Prince2, Agile, TOGAF, ITIL
  • Excellent inter-personal skills, verbal, and written communications
  • Extensive experience of Microsoft productivity and collaboration applications to create professional, customer facing, documents
  • Ability to work in isolation; workload management and prioritization, and as part of a group with a common goal; a collaborative, responsive, team-player
  • Highly motived, has a “can-do” attitude and a #winning mentality  
  • Demonstrable experience in a customer facing Pre-Sales Solution Architect role
  • Demonstrable industry experience desired across all relevant roles
