Reporting to the Director of Mainframe Automation, you will lead a team of Mainframe Automation SMEs, with the goal of reducing manual labor hours through automation.
This position will be part of a newly established team focused on accelerating the design and performance of our development of automation, integration into platforms (Envision X, AIR, Sidekick), and architectural design of multiple platforms: Automation Point, OPS/MVS, zOSMF, Zowe, Ansible and Ansible Readiness.
Our Mainframe capabilities are well recognized in the market and this role ensures that we achieve even greater success in the future by developing a strategy that creates the efficiencies needed to secure growth and scale of our market leading position in MF. Working with our product development, engineering, and marketing teams you will together ensure that we define and implement plans for the team to exceed sales objectives.
Key Areas of Focus for this Role
Leading a team of highly skilled Mainframe Automation SMEs you will be responsible for Recruitment, Performance Management, Development, engagement, and retention
Coach and mentor the team on strategies to drive automation
Actively foster an environment of teamwork, transparency, creativity, and continuous improvement
Accountable for defining and achieving key metrics and scorecard with clear linkage to productivity gains
Identify and drive opportunities to improve automation for code deployment, management, and visibility of application services
Represent Automation Engineering in design review and work cross-functionally with Engineering teams on operational readiness
Partner with product and client account teams to develop and execute successful deployment of our automation tools for net new MF clients and existing base
Working with our clients and our Mainframe Operations teams to understand challenges and act as a trusted advisor to developed automation solutions
Engineering solutions to bridge tool capabilities with business requirements for a superior client experience
Identify and design solutions that reduce or eliminate the need for human intervention, enabling our teams to focus on problem management tasks by automating corrective steps in response to specific alert types.
Deliver solutions using agile development methodology
Assess and analyze the performance of the existing tools to identify gaps and opportunities to ensure proactive detection of issues before they become availability-impacting incidents.

BS Degree in computer science or related field and 10 years’ development experience is preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Excellent oral and written communication skills; must be capable of creating and presenting highly professional content to audiences ranging from the C-suite to front-line operators
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to influence, convey information at an appropriate level to the intended audience, and build trusted relationships.

Strong leader capable of motivating and leading teams to achieve meaningful productivity gains through automation
Proven track record for taking responsibility for results with a strong sense of initiative, collaboration and determination required to achieve these results
Software development and Programming languages: Python, C++, REXX, Cobol, Assembler
Ansible Framework and Playbooks
Code hosting platforms for version control and source code management such as Github
Software Development Issue tracking and Agile project management Tools such as Jira or Bugzilla (Scrum and Kanban Boards)
