Expert Systems Engineer

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Brings prior experience to organize and define work for complex or ambiguous situations.
Provides consultation, training, and knowledge sharing to associates
Actively contributes to domain body of knowledge
Full understanding of server hardware and operating systems including high availability (HA) components
Full knowledge to install and configure high availability/cluster servers supporting business critical functions
Proficiency in multiple scripting languages to develop solutions for automation and reporting.
Primary participant in working with multiple Teams to design computer system configurations, setups and Disaster Recovery plans.
Proficiency in multiple computer Operating Systems
Proficiency in storage layout designs and implementation for system setup and performance.
Proficiency in systems design to provide input/specifications for final purchasing decisions.
Design workarounds, creative solutions or process redesign for system vulnerabilities where existing defined actions may result in Customer impact or vulnerabilities that may not be resolved by other means.
Design, implement, and troubleshoot advanced network configurations within the server configuration
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not have direct reports but may mentor less experienced associates in the role.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
Typically requires a minimum of 11 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years’ experience; or equivalent work experience.
OS Platform Requirements (varies on OS platform of position):
Windows 8+ years hands on administration of Windows OS environments
VMware 5+ years hands on administration of VMware environments
Linux 8+ years hands on administration with RHEL or other Linux environments
HPUX 8+ years hands on administration of HP-UX OS environments
Solaris 8+ years hands on administration of Solaris OS environments
AIX 8+ years hands on administration of AIX OS environments
Preferred
ITIL Foundations Certified
VERITAS Cluster Server “high availability cluster certification”
Understands the competitive landscape from both a business and technical perspective
