Role and responsibility:

• Lead the end-to-end migration process from Oracle to PostgreSQL.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to define migration requirements and design efficient database structures.

• Execute data migration tasks with precision and minimal downtime.

• Manage day-to-day operations of both Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.

• Implement and enforce best practices for database security, availability, and performance.

• Perform routine maintenance, updates, and patches to ensure optimal database health.

• Work collaboratively with the Sr. Database Administrator team to address operational issues and escalations.

• Provide technical guidance and support for complex problem resolution.

• Participate in on-call rotation to ensure 24×7 operational support.

• Create and maintain detailed documentation for migration processes, configurations, and operational procedures.

• Train and mentor team members on database administration and migration tasks.

• Monitor database performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing optimizations.

• Collaborate with the team to develop proactive monitoring solutions for both Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.

Experience:

• Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Senior Database Administrator.

• Proven track record of successfully migrating databases from Oracle to PostgreSQL.

• Extensive experience in Primary PostgreSQL database administration along with secondary as Oracle.

• Proficiency in SQL scripting, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.

• Strong knowledge of database security, backup, and recovery strategies.

• Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions is advantageous.

• Demonstrated ability to work in a 24×7 operational environment.

• Willingness to participate in on-call rotation and handle escalations.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.

• Capacity to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
