About the role and what you’ll be doing: 

The Cloud Delivery Director is an onsite leadership role with a primary focus on operational management. This position is responsible for overseeing all AWS and managed services projects, ensuring quality performance, client satisfaction, and operational excellence.

Operational Oversight:

  • Develop and implement operational processes and protocols specific to client’s needs and obligations.
  • Conduct regular operational reviews to assess efficiency, resource allocation, and cost control.

Service Delivery:

  • Manage the end-to-end service lifecycle, focusing on operational efficiency and excellence.
  • Oversee procurement, logistics, and supply chain activities as they relate to client projects.

Team Building & Leadership:

  • Create, lead, and manage cross-functional teams from inception, focusing on operational efficiency.
  • Provide ongoing leadership training centered around operational best practices.

Technical Leadership:

  • Align technical deployments and managed services with operational standards and best practices.

Quality Assurance:

  • Incorporate operational metrics into quality control processes to ensure client and company objectives are met.

Platform Cost Optimization & FinOps:

  • Conduct regular reviews of AWS service utilization to identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize spend.
  • Implement FinOps best practices, including cost allocation tagging, right-sizing, and reserved instance management.
  • Coordinate with financial and technical teams to develop and execute a cost-optimization strategy tailored to client needs.
  • Monitor and report on key FinOps metrics, such as cloud cost per unit, and take corrective actions as needed.

Reporting & Documentation:

  • Generate operationally focused reports for both client and senior management.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of all operational procedures and protocols.

Innovation:

  • Drive operational improvements through process optimization and technological innovation.

Required Qualifications

  • 10-15 years in an operational management role, ideally within an IT or managed services environment.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, including familiarity with AWS architecture, best practices, and operational protocols.
  • Proven track record in leading and scaling operational teams, with a focus on operational efficiency and excellence.
  • Exceptional expertise in operational metrics, resource allocation, and workflow optimization.
  • Solid understanding of financial management as it pertains to operational budgeting and cost control.
  • Demonstrable expertise in platform cost optimization and financial operations (FinOps), with proven experience in achieving cost savings on cloud platforms like AWS.
  • Deep understanding of cloud economics, including hands-on experience with tools and practices for AWS cost monitoring, reporting, and optimization.
  • Advanced communication and negotiation skills, particularly in a client-facing role.
  • Relevant certifications in operational management (e.g., Six Sigma, CPIM) or AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator) are desired.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Operations Management, IT, or a closely related field.
